About HMI

HMI was founded in 2003 to provide the insurance industry with standardized replacement cost values and objective pre-loss risk inspections on trees and shrubs.  Through the years, we have created a national network of professional tree care companies, ISA certified arborists and other subject matter experts to support our growing list of services. Today, we offer emergency tree removals and a wide range of consulting services to property owners and insurance adjusters, who are dealing with damage to trees, turf, landscaping, as well as unique golf course features such as bunkers, greens, fairways, and tee boxes. Emergency tree removals are available in over 40 states and HMI’s consulting services are available throughout North America and the Caribbean.

Our Network

After processing over 25,000 emergency tree removal claims and 2,000 large loss claims assignments, HMI has gained the experience and expertise to exceed the expectations of property owners and  insurance adjusters. Our National Network of credentialed tree care professionals offer a comprehensive suite of products and services to property owners and insurance adjusters, who are dealing with damage to trees, turf, landscaping, as well as unique golf course features such as bunkers, greens, fairways, and tee boxes. Emergency tree removals are available in over 40 states and consulting is available throughout North America and the Caribbean.

Our Dedication to Preservation

When HMI was formed in 2003, the Founders had a vision of creating a database of replacement costs for woody trees and shrubs that would enable the insurance industry to develop policies providing property owners with coverage to actually replace damaged trees and shrubs.  HMI’s replacement cost data base would, in effect, create new “wealth” for property owners by valuing their green assets.  In this way, we hoped to increase awareness about the intrinsic value of trees and shrubs and, in turn, efforts to acquire and preserve them.  Our mission is to plant one tree for each one removed by our Network in support of HMI’s emergency tree removal service.  The trees will be planted in both local communities and forests impacted by recent storms and wildfires. In addition to this initiative, HMI works closely with Dr. Michael Dirr to host his findings online, and to support his research and preservation of green assets.
